Low Risk

Best for guests who may need to change plans. Offers the most generous refund window.

More than 24 hrs before check-in

Full refund of the booking amount, no questions asked.

Within 24 hrs of check-in

50% refund of the total booking amount.

After check-in

No refund for nights already used.

Strict

High Risk

Applied to premium and high-demand properties. Limited refund windows once booked.

More than 14 days before check-in

Full refund of the booking amount.

7–14 days before check-in

50% refund of the total booking amount.

Fewer than 7 days before check-in

No refund. Booking amount is fully forfeited.

Service fees are non-refundable in all policy types unless we cancel the booking.

Refund Process

How Refunds Work

Once a cancellation is initiated, here is what happens next.

Initiate the Cancellation

Log in to your StayDekho account, go to "My Bookings", and select the booking you wish to cancel. Click "Cancel Booking" and confirm your choice.

Refund Eligibility is Calculated

Our system automatically calculates the refund amount based on the property's cancellation policy and the time remaining before your check-in date.

Confirmation Email Sent

You will receive a cancellation confirmation email with the exact refund amount and the timeline for when it will be credited to your account.

Refund Credited to Original Payment Method

Refunds are processed to the original payment method (credit/debit card, UPI, net banking, or wallet). Processing typically takes 3–5 business days, though your bank may take an additional 2–3 days to reflect the amount.

Contact Support if Delayed

If you have not received your refund within 7 business days, please contact our support team at support@staydekho.com with your booking reference number.

Special Cases

Exceptions to the Policy

Certain circumstances may qualify for full refunds outside the standard policy windows.

Force Majeure

Natural disasters, government travel bans, or other extraordinary events beyond your control may qualify for a full refund regardless of the policy type. Documentation will be required.

Health & Medical Emergencies

In the event of a serious medical emergency, please contact our support team immediately with supporting documentation. We review these cases on a compassionate basis.

COVID-19 Policy

If a government-mandated lockdown or travel restriction prevents you from travelling, you are entitled to a full refund or date change, regardless of the policy type on the listing.

Property Not as Described

If the property significantly differs from the listing at the time of check-in (missing amenities, safety issues), you may be entitled to a full refund. Report within 24 hours of arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if StayDekho cancels my booking?

If a host cancels your confirmed booking, you will receive a full refund of the total booking amount, including service fees, regardless of the cancellation policy. We will also help you find an alternative property. Hosts who cancel frequently are subject to penalties and may have their listings removed from StayDekho.

Can I change my dates instead of cancelling?

Yes. You can request a date change by going to "My Bookings" and selecting "Modify Dates". Date changes are subject to availability and any price difference for the new dates. If you modify within the cancellation window, the modification is treated as a new booking and the original booking may be subject to the cancellation policy.

What are service fees and are they refundable?

StayDekho charges a service fee to cover platform operations, payment processing, and guest support. Service fees are typically non-refundable when you initiate a cancellation, unless the host cancels or in exceptional circumstances reviewed by our team. The exact service fee amount is shown at checkout before you confirm your booking.

How do I initiate a cancellation?

To cancel a booking: log in to your StayDekho account → click "My Bookings" in the navigation → find the booking you want to cancel → click "View Details" → scroll to the bottom and click "Cancel Booking" → review the refund amount shown and confirm. You will receive an email confirmation immediately after.
